I needed to fix an aftermarket Lithium battery for an older Dewalt 18volt tool set. Dewalt only briefly made 18v Lithium batteries, pushing people to replace them with 20volt tools and batteries. Their 18v lithiums were high priced and didn't fit tools like their dual power portable shop vac. Dewalt then made an adapter for the 20v so the 18v tools can use them. Luckily, aftermarket lithiums filled the niche. But one wouldn't charge.Using this tool and a multi-meter I was able to identify and replace the 2 bad cells out of the 10 and spot weld them into place. It was tricky learning how to use it and I don't yet have it mastered, but the cost of the tool was roughly what the battery would cost, Since I have a couple of others that are bad, I expect the very next battery I fix to, ironically, be one of the 20v OEM Dewalts that came with the 18v adaptor. I really like this tool.
